Chicken Congee

Hello. It has been two weeks since I added porridge into my daily diet. Eating congee helps to comfort my stomach a lot. Hence I decided to continue to eat congee alternately with other meals like rice and bread.  In the beginning, I made the plain rice porridge to be eaten along with other meat meals and stir fried vegetables. My family call it moi. But while surfing the internet I found congee recipes. This reminds me of my congee making addiction in some years ago.  Congee for me is a type of rice porridge that you can eat it alone without adding anything. Usually I saute the basic ingredients first in oil before adding the rice. So the congee is usually creamier that moi. And the color is not pure white caused by the oil.  This is one of the congee recipe I've made. It is delicious, suitable to be eaten when having fever, menstrual pain for women and also when having stomach pain. The recipe I use here use lots of garlic and ginger, as I usually eat this congee while ...

My mom's Chicken Rice (Malaysian)

My mom makes this nasi ayam or chicken rice around once a month. Especially when her grandchildren come to our house. Many of them and my far living cousins also loves my mom's rice chicken. To me, it's is a really decent rice chicken. I also like it just the way they are.  My mom's chicken rice comprises of cooked flavored rice, fried chicken, chili sauce, soy sauce, chicken soup and vegetables like cucumber, tomato and lettuce.  Actually my mother's fried chicken is dark in color because of the soy sauce used to marinade them. But my father doesn't like it. So my mum marinate those chicken with turmeric. But I still have the soy sauce to add the flavor to the chicken later.  My mom make nasi ayam or chicken rice with malay and home style. It is a bit different than Chinese style chicken rice. There are many versions of chicken rice in Malaysia. Even the Chinese versions are varies, and the Malay version also have many varieties. So let's look at the recipe.  I...

Sauteed Cabbage With Turmeric

Image
Recently I am eating cabbage more frequently. It is because I want to improve my health. And cabbage can stay longer in the fridge compared to some other vegetables like spinach and mustard greens. It is easy to prepare too.  However I sometimes don't really like the thicker part of cabbage. Usually I cut it smaller and thinner.  Recently too I frequently saute cabbage with turmeric and anchovy. I love to eat it with white rice and curry, with white rice and chicken in soy sauce, and many more. I think it is suitable to be eaten with rice and curry.  This dish I called sauteed cabbage with turmeric is made with onion, garlic, anchovies or anchovy cube, chili, mustard seeds and of course turmeric. I love the taste. It is inspired by Muslim Indian restaurant menu, but I don't really sure and don't have the recipe of their cabbage dish. So I invented my own sauteed cabbage with turmeric instead.  So lets see the recipe. This recipe is for 2 servings.  Ingredients 1...
